Adam Carolla lambasts Democrats over handling of California fires, predicts liberals will flee

  • Comedian and podcast host Adam Carolla predicts that the severe wildfires in Southern California could cause liberal Democrats to abandon the party due to frustrations with the state’s permitting process and environmental regulations.
  • Carolla criticizes California’s governance, suggesting that state leaders prioritize politics and ideology over practical solutions for wildfire prevention.
  • The comedian highlights the potential shift towards more moderate candidates, such as Rick Caruso, as a result of the bureaucratic challenges faced by homeowners trying to rebuild.
  • Governor Gavin Newsom and Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass have faced criticism for their handling of the crisis, with Carolla accusing them of deflecting blame onto climate change rather than addressing their own inaction.
  • Carolla warns that if the state fails to effectively address the crisis, Democrats risk losing support in traditionally liberal strongholds, emphasizing the need for better fire prevention and recovery efforts.

As wildfires continue to devastate Los Angeles County and other parts of Southern California, comedian and podcast host Adam Carolla has sparked a heated debate by predicting that the disaster could lead liberal Californians to abandon the Democratic Party.

Carolla, a longtime critic of California’s regulatory environment, argues that the state’s bureaucratic hurdles for rebuilding homes will alienate even its most loyal Democratic voters.

His comments come as Gov. Gavin Newsom and Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass face mounting criticism for their handling of the crisis, which has already been labeled the worst wildfire season in the county’s history.

In a recent episode of his podcast, Carolla claimed that the state’s stringent permitting process and environmental regulations will frustrate homeowners attempting to rebuild.

“All these people who are deep blue Democrats are now going to have to pull a permit to rebuild, and they’re going to get the 28-year-old b—- from the Coastal Commission telling them to go f— off,” Carolla said. “And then they’re going to vote for Trump or whoever’s Trumpian next.”

“When they start getting the regulation, they’re going to go nuts. And when they start running into the bureaucracy and the red tape, they’re going to start going nuts and they’re going to vote for Rick Caruso next time,” he added, referring to the moderate Democratic businessman who ran against Bass to be the mayor of Los Angeles in 2022. California Democrats prioritizing politics and ideology over practicality

Carolla’s remarks highlight a broader frustration with California’s governance, particularly its environmental policies.

In an appearance on Fox News, Carolla also accused state leaders of prioritizing ideology over practical solutions, pointing to President-elect Donald Trump’s calls for forest management as an example of how partisan politics have hindered effective fire prevention.

“Donald Trump said to clean up the forest, that’s when you knew it wasn’t going to happen, because whatever he says, we do the opposite of,” Carolla said. “He wants to clean up the forest. We reject everything, so we’ll do the opposite of everything Trump ever suggested.”

The comedian, who was forced to evacuate his home earlier this week, expressed uncertainty about whether his property survived the flames.

“I would say it’s a coin-toss at best,” he said. “I’ve seen a lot of footage of houses that were around my house burnt to the ground. There’s still some hope that my house is still intact, but if it is, it’ll be a miracle.”

His personal experience mirrors the plight of thousands of Angelenos and Southern Californians who have lost homes in the fires, many of whom are now questioning the effectiveness of state and local leadership.

Newsom and Bass have faced particular scrutiny for their handling of the crisis. Newsom has frequently attributed the wildfires to climate change, a stance Carolla dismissed as deflection.

“They want to blame everything on climate change, but it’s really their inaction,” he said. “That’s why we’re in this predicament.”

Meanwhile, Bass has been criticized for being on a trip to Ghana as the fires raged, as well as for her decision to cut the Los Angeles Fire Department’s budget last year. Upon her return, Bass offered little in response to questions about her administration’s fire prevention efforts.

Carolla warned that Democrats risk losing support in traditionally liberal strongholds like Malibu, Pacific Palisades, and Santa Monica if they fail to address the crisis effectively.

“These are deep-blue progressive cities who vote and raise money and bend over backwards for these people, but they don’t have a house anymore, and that’s because of you,” he said. “So it’s time to get it together.”
