The incident occurred just hours before the two clubs were set to face off in the European competition’s final.

Local authorities in the Polish city responded to the unrest, with tensions escalating as fans and police became embroiled in the confrontation.

In footage shared on social media, supporters could be seen throwing chairs towards police officers in what witnesses described as unsavoury scenes.

However, as the day dragged on, there appear to be a section of fans who have become violent with footage quickly going viral on social media.

Officers in riot gear formed lines to separate the opposing supporters as the situation threatened to spiral further out of control.

The incident comes as thousands of fans have travelled to Poland for the match between the Premier League side and their Spanish opponents.

Both clubs received allocations for the Tarczyński Arena, which has a capacity of approximately 45,000.

UEFA officials were reportedly monitoring the situation closely ahead of kick-off. The governing body has previously taken action against clubs whose supporters have been involved in violent incidents.

Local police indicated that more information about the clashes would be released as their investigation continues.

It remains unclear whether any arrests were made or if any supporters sustained injuries during the confrontation.
