Britain can officially rule out a White Christmas this year, as the Met Office delivers its final verdict on the festive forecast.
Instead of snow, the UK is set for mild, cloudy and dry conditions across the country during the Christmas period.
The national weather service confirmed temperatures will reach more than 6C above average in some areas, with most regions remaining grey throughout the festive season.
A Met Office statement on social media declared: “With double digit temperatures theres no snow expected this Christmas, most places will simply remain grey and dry.”

A Met Office map revealed most of the UK will experience temperatures above 3C on Christmas Eve, with Scotland showing even warmer conditions.
Christmas Day will see a slight cooling, with Plymouth and Norwich dropping below 3C, though still not cold enough for snow.
Most areas will remain frost-free as overnight temperatures stay well above average.
Boxing Day brings a further temperature drop, with Birmingham and Manchester falling below 3C, while Belfast and Glasgow remain milder with some Scottish areas reaching over 9C.

Met Office meteorologist Alex Deakin described the forecast as a “fairly straightforward festive forecast.”
“Think mild, think cloudy, and think dry,” he said of the Christmas week weather.
He also cautioned those planning winter walks to be prepared for strong gusts of wind, advising people to “hold on to your Santa hats.”
The mild forecast has sparked disappointment among Britons, with many taking to social media to express their frustration.
“Fed up with a mild and wet Christmas now,” wrote one social media user.
Another simply stated: “What bad Christmas weather.”
“Rubbish as usual,” complained a third user.
The Met Office noted that while the UK will miss out on snow, Storm Elena will bring “strong winds, rough seas and some heavy rain” to southeast Europe and Turkey.

While the UK faces a snowless Christmas, other parts of Europe are set for a white festive season.
Higher regions of Croatia, Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina are expected to experience snowfall during the Christmas period.
Some winter enthusiasts are even anticipating the possibility of snow at Italy’s historic Colosseum.
This contrasts sharply with the UK’s mild conditions, highlighting the varied weather patterns across the continent during the festive season.
