Paris Fury has confirmed her husband Tyson’s drastic decision to cut himself off from his family for three months ahead of his heavyweight rematch with Oleksandr Usyk in Riyadh.

The mother of seven revealed the tough choice came after Fury’s defeat in May.

“After the last fight, everything that went on previously personally in our lives and then Tyson obviously had the outcome last time, I just think he decided this on his own and I had to support him in it,” Paris told IFL TV Boxing.

She explained that Tyson “didn’t want to be involved in family life” and has put himself in a “serious, serious condition.”

Paris described the emotional toll of their separation when she finally saw Tyson in Saudi Arabia.

“It’s been very difficult I can’t lie,” she admitted.

Despite flying first class to the Middle East with their eldest son Prince John James, their reunion was distant.

“Yesterday was the first time I saw him, we still haven’t spoken, I literally was ten feet across from him and we’ve just barely made eye contact,” Paris revealed.

She remained optimistic about the strategy, adding: “I haven’t seen him like this since the Deontay Wilder rematch, this was the last time I’ve seen Tyson in this mood.”

Fury has weighed in at a career-heaviest 20 stone for the eagerly-anticipated rematch, though he was wearing clothing on the scales.

His opponent Usyk came in four stone lighter ahead of defending his IBO, WBC, WBO, WBA (Super) and The Ring belts.

The British heavyweight is set to earn £68million from the £150million fight purse.

However, controversy has emerged over Fury’s bushy beard, with Usyk’s promoter Alex Krassyuk claiming it violates WBC rules.

“The beard rule is being grossly violated,” Krassyuk said. “Tyson’s beard has to be trimmed. We will push it further.”

Fury suffered his first professional defeat when he lost to Usyk by split decision earlier this year.

Fury has insisted the sacrifices will be “worth it” if he wins, having spent three months away from his wife and their seven children.

The separation has been particularly challenging for the family, who experienced heartbreak when Paris suffered a miscarriage before their first bout in May.
