The influential comedy show Malcolm In The Middle is making a comeback for four new episodes – 25 years since the acclaimed series first launched.

Frankie Muniz, Bryan Cranston and Jane Kaczmarek will reunite for a new run of the show, which ran for seven seasons until 2006 and won seven Emmy Awards, including one for best writing for a comedy series.

The series showcases ordinary life events through the eyes of the extraordinary youngster Malcolm, played by Muniz, who has a genius IQ.

The original series creator, Linwood Boomer, will also return for the fresh episodes on Disney+. A release date for them is yet to be announced.

“I have been waiting for this moment for 18 years. Let’s find out where Malcolm and his family are now,” Muniz said in a video message accompanying the announcement.

The same announcement revealed a reason for Malcolm and his parents to reunite – namely Malcolm and his daughter are drawn into the family’s chaos when Hal (played by Cranston) and Lois (played by Kaczmarek) demand his presence for their 40th wedding anniversary party.
