Former Egypt defender and beIN Sports pundit Haytham Farouk has claimed Mohamed Salah has renewed his contract with Liverpool, potentially ending speculation about the forward’s future at Anfield.
The Egyptian star’s current deal is set to expire at the end of June, with his contractual situation having been a major talking point throughout the season.
The announcement comes with Liverpool manager Arne Slot facing repeated questions over Salah’s future.
Farouk, who represented Egypt between 1993 and 1999, made the announcement on social media platform X.

“Congratulations on renewing your contract with the number you like and the period you want,” wrote the beIN Sports analyst.
“The Egyptian king rules with his own judgments.”
The news has sparked excitement among Liverpool supporters, who had been concerned about potentially losing their star player on a free transfer this summer.
Salah has been in exceptional form this season, netting 13 goals and providing eight assists in just 14 Premier League matches.
The 32-year-old recently expressed disappointment about his contract situation, revealing he had not been contacted about a new deal.
Reports had suggested the forward would be willing to accept a one-year extension to remain at Anfield.
His recent brace against Newcastle took him to the top of the Premier League scoring charts and left him just three goals shy of becoming Liverpool’s fourth-highest scorer in history.
Liverpool manager Slot appeared to hint at Salah’s future following the forward’s recent performance against Newcastle.
“Every time we need him he scores an important goal. We are hoping and expecting that he can continue this for a long time,” said Slot.
The Dutchman praised Salah’s impact, adding: “He is in a very good place, in a very good team that provides him with opportunities.”
Slot highlighted Salah’s ability to influence matches even when not at his best, noting his contribution of “an assist, two goals, a shot against the bar.”

The contract developments come amid broader negotiations at Liverpool, with the club reportedly making an opening offer to captain Virgil van Dijk.
According to The Athletic, the initial proposal fell short of the Dutch defender’s expectations, with no significant breakthrough achieved.
Van Dijk, Salah and vice-captain Trent Alexander-Arnold are all approaching the final months of their current deals, which expire in June.
The club appears to be pushing forward in an attempt to get all three players signed up on long-term deals.
