The Met Office has issued a fresh weather update as Britain gets battered by 385 flood warnings after 10 people were rescued from a landslide in North Wales.

The UK’s national weather service issued six weather warnings – stretching from North West Scotland to the South East of England – after days of sub-zero temperatures brought snowfall to parts of the country.

In a new update this morning, Met Office chief meteorologist Andy Page said: “Impacts from Storm Bert will continue to cause disruption as we go through today, and multiple warnings are in place for wind and rain.”

“While the risk of any snowfall has now diminished, rainfall will affect much of the UK today, in particular some southwestern parts of England and South Wales, but the heaviest rain will ease from these areas through the day.

“The strong southerly winds continue today and warnings are in place for central, southern and eastern England, Northern Ireland and western Scotland where gusts could peak at 60 mph and could even reach more than 70 mph along some exposed coasts.

“Warnings could still be amended, possibly at short notice, so it is important people keep up to date with the very latest forecast.”

Highlands & Eilean Siar and Strathclyde is currently facing a yellow wind warning which could result in gales of up to 75mph.

A Northern Irish wind warning forecasts similar issues, with the Republic of Ireland facing the brunt of the carnage over recent days.

South Wales remains braced for a yellow rain warning just hours after 10 people were rescued from a landslide in North Wales.

Separate rain and wind warnings have overlapped in the nearby South West, with another wind warning covering large swathes of the East of England, London and the South East of England.

England’s Environment Agency has subsequently issued 79 flood warnings and 195 flood alerts.

Meanwhile, the Scottish Environment Protection Agency put out a total of 11 flood warnings and alerts.

Natural Resources Wales is also putting out 58 alerts and 48 warnings across the principality.

Flooding from Storm Bert caused around 26,000 properties across the UK to lose power, PowerOutage has claimed.

In Denbighshire, North Wales, five adults and five children were rescued from a house flooded with debris following a landslide on Saturday.

North Wales Fire & Rescue Service said “significant flooding in the area” remained as of Saturday evening.

It published footage showing floodwater coursing through a country lane.
