A Ryanair flight was forced to make an emergency landing before a man on board died on November 10.

The aircraft was forced to land at London Stansted Airport, having been destined from Manchester Airport.

Despite immediate medical assistance from crew and passengers, followed by extensive efforts from emergency services upon landing, the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

A passenger on board described how the man began “having convulsions” before being moved to the aisle where immediate medical assistance commenced.

“He stopped breathing and everything went into chaos,” the witness claimed.

Several passengers with first aid training quickly stepped forward to help as a defibrillator was prepared.

The emergency response involved two air crew members and three passengers working together to administer CPR.

The life-saving efforts continued for 25 minutes until the aircraft made its emergency landing at London Stansted shortly before 8pm.

Upon landing, paramedics took over the resuscitation attempts for a further 30 minutes while passengers were evacuated from the aircraft.

After approximately an hour, passengers were allowed to reboard with a new air crew to continue their journey to Manchester.

“I asked and was told that, unfortunately, the man did not make it,” the witness said.

“I was devastated to learn the sad news.”

Emergency services mounted a significant response at Stansted Airport, with multiple units surrounding the aircraft after landing.

The response included an ambulance, a Hazardous Area Response Team vehicle, a paramedic car, and the Essex and Herts Air Ambulance.

The airport’s fire service was also deployed to the scene as part of the emergency response.

Medics worked alongside airport emergency teams in their attempts to save the passenger’s life.

A spokesperson for the East of England Ambulance Service confirmed the tragic outcome despite extensive resuscitation efforts.

“Sadly, despite the best efforts of all involved, the man had died at the scene,” the spokesperson said.

The ambulance service had deployed multiple emergency resources to Stansted Airport following reports of a man suffering a medical emergency on an aircraft.
