With three red cards in the Premier League so far this season, Arsenal have come in for criticism.

William Saliba became the latest Gunners star to receive his marching orders over the weekend, with the centre-back dismissed in their shock 2-0 defeat to Bournemouth at the Vitality Stadium.

Saliba has now joined Declan Rice and Leandro Trossard in seeing red, with the pair previously dismissed in clashes against Brighton and Manchester City respectively.

There’s no denying Arsenal are a force once again. Not just at home but in Europe, too.

One player who knows what it’s like to play for the north London giants is Jeremie Aliadiere, who scored nine goals from 51 appearances during his time in the capital.

Speaking exclusively to GB News, via William Hill Vegas, the Frenchman was asked about his former club’s disciplinary issues.

But Aliadiere has no interest in the subject. Winning, in his eyes, is all that matters.

“You do what you do to win a game,” he said. “Totally unfair criticism, it’s part of the game, has been forever.”

Arsenal have come close to winning the league under Arteta in each of the past two seasons.

But the Spaniard still has one trophy to show for his efforts – the FA Cup, which was secured at the start of his tenure in 2020.

Aliadiere is, however, pleased with the progress his former team have made. And Arteta, in his eyes, is the man to bring the glory days back to the Emirates Stadium.

“The club is different now under Mikel,” he continued.

“They are challenging for all trophies, the home support is amazing and the Emirates is a brilliant place to watch and support your team.

“From the later Wenger years and then the indifferent period after that, Arsenal now have a clear focus, clear vision under Mikel and the squad is excellent.

“However, modern football says you have to win trophies, fans have a bigger say and demand trophies.

“But the main change for me is that Mikel as brought Arsenal to be challenging for titles year in year out.”

Arsenal bolstered their squad back in the summer – but one area they didn’t strengthen was up top.

Kai Havertz has impressed at the tip of their attack but the Germany international still isn’t at the level of Arsenal legends of years gone by – while Gabriel Jesus has long been too inconsistent in front of goal.

Aliadiere played alongside Thierry Henry for the Gunners.

Henry is regarded as one of the best players to ever wear their famous red shirt.

And Aliadiere thinks the Frenchman would thrive in Arteta’s side.

“He would fit so well into this team,” he continued. “The chances Arsenal are creating, he would thrive on them and would enjoy playing in the way Arsenal go about their business.”

Arsenal face Shakhtar Donetsk on Tuesday night (8pm).
