Sir Rod Stewart, 79, has issued a defiant statement shutting down the reports that he and wife Penny Lancaster, 53, reached a “stalemate” when it came to deciding on whether to sell their LA home.
Reports claimed that Lancaster was said to be furious at Stewart who was allegedly refusing to leave their LA mansion, with reports suggesting he had pulled the property from the market.
Lancaster has always considered the British countryside as her “home” and was said to be “angry” that her singer husband had changed his mind about selling to permanently relocate to their £4.3million countryside estate in Essex.
An insider told the Daily Mail: “Penny has no plans to return to LA, which she’s not a fan of, while Rod has no plans to move back right now. They’re at a stalemate and Penny is angry that Rod’s gone back on his word. It’s about saving their marriage right now.”
According to the publication, the couple’s £55m mansion in Beverly Hills was up for sale, but the Maggie May hit-maker is understood to have “rejected two offers”.
However, Stewart has since issued a statement on his Instagram account shutting down the rumours and explained: “Despite erroneous articles in the Daily Mail and other tabloids that followed suit. We wanted to put the record straight.
“There is absolutely no rift between Penny and I and no disagreement over where we should reside, in fact, it’s the opposite.
“We moved permanently back to our beloved Britain a year ago but are fortunate to also have homes in different countries, which we love to visit. Originally, we did think it made sense to sell our house in LA.
“But having spent a wonderful time there this summer with family and friends during my Vegas residency we realised that it makes sense to keep our house there.
“Two of my eldest children still live in Celtic House (the LA residence). Penny and I could not be more in love with each other after 27 glorious years. Please trust me on this… there’s no disharmony in our marriage.
The couple have been married since 2007
