Jermaine Jenas has admitted he is seeking professional help to deal with his ‘self-destructive streak’.
It comes after the BBC sacked the 41-year-old from his roles on The One Show and Match of the Day following an internal investigation that took weeks.
Jenas was alleged to have sent sexual messages to two female colleagues on The One Show, which were ’embarrassingly’ read out to him in a gruelling meeting with BBC executives.
Now the former England international, who has been married to wife Ellie Penfold since 2011, has admitted that he is looking for help as he fights for his family.

“I know I self-sabotage and have a self-destructive streak when it comes to my relationship especially, and I know I need help. And I am getting help.

“I have let myself down, my family, friends and colleagues down, and I owe everyone an apology – especially the women with whom I was messaging. I am so, so sorry.”
Jenas has been married to wife Penfold for 13 years, having got hitched in 2011, and have two children together while the former football star has another child from a previous relationship.
Penfold has yet to make a decision on whether or not she will leave her husband and Jenas has already admitted he has been thrown out of the bedroom.
