Taylor Swift has yet to make a cameo on bestie Selena Gomez‘s star-studded Hulu series Only Murders in the Building, but it’s never too late for the pop star to bring a little “No Body, No Crime” energy to the show.
In an interview with E! Newson Tuesday (Aug. 27), Gomez reacted to the possibility of having the 14-time Grammy winner join her, Steve Martin and Martin Short on the murder-mystery comedy. “She’s a little busy, you guys,” she said at first, while the Pink Panther actor joked that Swift calls them “every day” to ask for a part on the show.
When the reporter went on to pitch that Swift make an inconsequential appearance on Only Murders like simply walking by on the street, Gomez responded, “I love that.”
Martin went on to sing the praises of both the “Anti-Hero” singer and the Rare Beauty founder, who’ve been best friends since the late 2000s. “Here’s how I unite Taylor Swift and Selena,” he said. “Taylor Swift handles everything perfectly and so does Selena. In the situations I’ve seen — politically, trolls, everything — she just seems to have a wisdom about how to do something quietly, effortlessly. And I know that you have to think about these things.”
Gomez replied, “I wish I was recording that to send to her.”
The interview arrives on the same day as season 4 of Only Murders, which finds Gomez, Martin and Short’s characters traveling to Hollywood to supervise a film adaptation of their true crime podcast and real-life mystery-solving efforts. While there, they meet the actors who will play them in the film — Eva Longoria, Zach Galifianakis and Eugene Levy, respectively — while trying to get to the bottom of the death of Jane Lynch’s Sazz.
