The Repair Shop aired a new episode on Wednesday, with host Jay Blades overseeing some brand-new restorations.
One was by ceramics expert Kirsten Ramsay, who left a guest so touched by her fix even Blades appeared tearful as he witnessed the moment the guest was reunited with her cherished item.
Sisters Christine Sipos and Sian Gwyer from Newport in South Wales were hoping Ramsay could work her magic on a fruit bowl which was badly damaged.
“Oh dear – goodness,” Ramsay commented as the sister prised out pieces of the bowl.
Expert Will Kirk admitted: “I’m not sure what I’m looking at, apart from a lot of broken pieces. What exactly is this?”
“A fruit dish,” Christine explained, adding: “It stands up, and that goes on the top.” Her sister added: “It’s from Hungary, wasn’t it?”

“And what’s the connection with Hungary?” Ramsay probed, to which Christine replied: “My husband, Itsvan – but he’s known as Steve.”
“So you’re Welsh?” the Ramsay asked, which the sisters confirmed. Referring to Itsvan, she inquired: “How did you both meet?”
“In a pub – I was playing darts,” the guest explained. “Steve threw a packet of cigarettes over, and he said, ‘open them for me’. I picked them up and I threw them back.
“I said ‘open them yourself!’ and it just went from there. He was very muscly, strong – his mannerisms were like Sean Connery.”

“A young, muscly, Hungarian Sean Connery?” Kirk quipped. Christine beamed: “I couldn’t have asked for a better person. He was kind, gentle.”
“You say was – has he passed away?” Kirk asked.
“Oh sorry, yes. He was killed by a drunk driver 23 years ago,” Christine answered, continuing: “He was a very caring man.”
Later, the sister arrived at the iconic barn to pick up the fruit bowl. Christine admitted she felt “nervous” as Blades advised her to “take a deep breath”.

As the fixed fruit bowl was revealed, Christine commented: “Oh my God,” before becoming emotional.
She added: “Oh gosh… That’s beautiful – oh it’s beyond words. Honest to God it’s.. wow.” Her sister comforted her as she began to cry.
Turning to Kirsten, Christine continued: “Oh Kirsten, I’m going to have to give you a hug. Bless you – you’re an angel, I can’t believe it.”
“It’s a real pleasure to do that for you, and seeing your reaction is just incredible,” Ramsay responded.
“I’m blown away,” the guest went on as Jay Blades watched on tearfully.
As the sisters left, the presenter commented: “Look at the sisters. It makes you want to have a sister, cor blimey.”
