Relocation experts at 1st Move International gathered data to determine where UK residents moved the most between 2022 and 2024.
Britons leaving UK soils often ended up in two English-speaking countries, namely the United States and Australia, the data showed.
United States outranked Australia as the most popular destination for British expats.

“Renowned as a place of opportunity, the US is suitable for any stage of life, no matter if you’re still in education, starting a new career or simply wanting to embark on a new adventure,” explained the researchers behind the study.
“It’s no surprise that TikTok features more than 96.3 million videos tagged British person living in America.”
Australia came second in the list but was crowned the most desired country to move to according to 412,000 total Google searches.
“Similar to the US, the lack of a language barrier for UK residents makes settling in a new country a smoother process,” said the researchers.
“With warm weather, stunning beaches and plenty of opportunities, it is no wonder that this move is irresistible for so many”.
Australia’s cities, namely Sydney, Brisbane, Canberra, Melbourne and Perth, have the highest concentrations of British expats.
The United Arab Emirates rounded up the top three, with Dubai being a particularly popular choice.
“Beyond its appeal as a tourist hotspot, Dubai offers numerous advantages for expats,” added the researchers.
“It’s sunny, modern, safe, and has no income tax, significantly increasing take-home pay, making it a great place for families.”
