In an interview with CNN’s “State of the Union” with host Jake Tapperon July 28, Tapper addressed the concerns regarding the way the administration of President Joe Biden is handling the southern border crisis. Tapper questioned Warren about Harris’ record on managing the border crisis given that President Joe Biden appointed her to address the “root causes” of the border crisis in March 2021.
“I don’t need to tell you voters overwhelmingly disapprove of how the Biden-Harris administration has handled the border. By giving the nomination to one of the leaders of the border effort, aren’t Democrats doubling down on one of your party’s biggest vulnerabilities?” Tapper asked.
As a response, Warren claimed that there is a need for more resources for cities overwhelmed by the influx of illegal immigrants while advocating for a pathway to citizenship.
“We need the tools in order to have more resources at the border, to have more resources in the states and cities that are supporting migrants,” continued Warren. “And I believe we need to create a pathway to citizenship. All of that is part of what we need to do for comprehensive immigration reform. Kamala Harris will work with Congress and get that done.”
Warren’s call for mass amnesty stirs controversy among Conservatives
Republican vice presidential candidate Sen. JD Vance of Ohio took to social media to voice his strong disapproval.
“Elizabeth Warren is so excited to elect Border Czar Kamala Harris because she knows Kamala wants to give mass amnesty to millions of illegal aliens. Kamala’s extreme border policies are fundamentally anti-American,” Vance wrote on X.
Former Trump advisor Stephen Miller echoed Vance’s sentiments and warned of the implications of Warren’s proposal.
“If you listen to this clip, you can hear Team Harris explicitly making two campaign promises: 1. Uncapped taxpayer support for newly-imported illegal migrants 2. U.S. Citizenship for illegals arriving from 150+ nations—which means voting rights, welfare, and chain migration,” Miller stated.
Florida GOP chairman Evan Power commented succinctly, “Translation: they need voters.”
Meanwhile, Texas Gov. Greg Abbott accused the administration of enabling illegal immigration. “The truth is coming out. Democrats confirm that Kamala Harris will work with Congress to grant citizenship to the 11 million illegal immigrants that she and Biden have let in. This is just PART of the lawless regime Kamala would impose. Only LEGAL immigrants get citizenship,” Abbott wrote.
Fox News contributor Leo Terrell joined the chorus and labeled the situation “outright admission,” while podcast host Mike Sperrazza warned the public of a broader agenda. “They are telling us their plan. They want to destroy America,” Sperrazza stated.
