BBC presenter Gabby Logan has opened up and made a rare admission about her marriage to Kenny Logan and claimed that the secret to a good marriage is “to keep making an effort”.

Two years after they first met, the couple tied the knot in 2001, with their marriage continuing to withstand the test of time and making the most of their long-lasting relationship – especially in the public eye.

Despite their happy relationship, Logan admitted that she was at first reluctant to publicly mention her marriage and said: “I used to be really nervous talking about it. I thought I’d jinx it. But we’re very much a team.”

Speaking about how they keep their relationship fresh, Logan told The Sun: “The key to our relationship is communication, having fun and making time to be together.

“You can’t be apart all the time and expect everything to be great. We are lucky, as we see each other more than people realise.”

She added: “The secret is to keep making an effort. Not to be crude, but if you had an amazing sports car, you couldn’t leave it in a garage for 15 years and expect it to work straight away. If you have something special, you need to look after it.”

The couple keep their life as private as they can, however, in 2010, Logan’s husband recalled how his outing with his friends led to his first meeting with the sports presenter in his autobiography – Just For Kicks.

“I was in the K Bar in Fulham with a few of the Wasps boys and in walked this blonde bombshell, who I recognised from the telly. She was with someone I knew, Tamsin from Sky Sports, so I sidled up to them and got myself an introduction.”

Admitting it was love at first sight, he added: “I was dumbstruck. Dumbstruck and incredibly excited. I went through to the dance floor – I was that excited – to find Peter Scrivener, another of my best mates at Wasps.”

After just seven months of dating, the International Scottish winger decided to propose despite Logan’s father being skeptical about their relationship.

Former Wales manager Terry Yorath struggled to give his permission for his daughter to marry, as he didn’t believe she actually wanted to walk down the aisle with him.

However, after a difficult conversation during a golfing trip in Spain, they were finally in agreement, with Logan’s father eventually saying: “It would be an honour to have you as my son-in-law.”

The couple have since welcomed their twins, Reuben and Lois and faced a prostate cancer scare back in 2022, with Logan initially suggesting that her husband have a Well Man health check, only to find out he was in the early stages of prostate cancer.

Receiving the diagnosis, the 52-year-old decided to take the advice of medical professionals and remove his entire prostate to prevent the illness from spreading.

Over the last couple of years, Logan has been struggling with her health too after starting HRT (hormone replacement therapy), due to starting menopause and worrying that her career was coming to an end.

Whilst doing regular brain exercises to keep herself focused, the 51-year-old has adapted the way she works to ease her concerns, now always carrying a piece of paper on set, so she is able to take notes.

“Feeling slightly unsure about things was such an unfamiliar feeling – and I thought, ‘Oh, God, am I going to keep doing my job if I can’t recall somebody’s name?’

“Fortunately, HRT has been great and I try to do regular exercise for my brain now, whether that’s testing myself on remembering numbers or people’s names,” the Daily Mirror reported.
