Nigel Farage has taken aim at Jo Brand and David Aaronovitch from the BBC in the wake of an assassination attempt on Donald Trump.

The GB News star said the pair are guilty of advocating political violence after the pair posted jokes about him and Donald Trump.

Farage said he was left “upset” about the attempt on the former president’s life that left him bloodied and saw him dragged off stage by the Secret Service.

But he was quick to lay blame at a media “narrative” that he feels has been a key contributor to the shocking event taking place.

“I’m afraid the narrative that is put out there about Donald Trump is just so dangerous and damaging”, he said.

“We’ve seen it in British politics. There are extremists / terrorists on either end of the spectrum.

“What we’ve seen through mainstream media and social media are millions of people turning towards hatred.

“I have to tell you, we are not that far behind in this country.”

Speaking about his personal experiences with being confronted by baying members of the public, Farage recalled a recent moment that hadn’t been publicised.

“The last time someone threw a drink at me was last Wednesday”, he said.

“Sometimes you see it in full view, normally I don’t talk about it. It’s amazing. When in the European elections in 2019 and someone threw a milkshake in my face, Jo Brand said ‘why waste your time on that? Better using battery acid’, and she is still appearing on the BBC.

“We had David Aaronovitch who said the Democrats should get Trump shot.

“He is still working for the Times and the BBC. There is too much of this. It’s acceptable to say violent things about right-wing people.

“If I said something about someone within the Labour Party anyway near that, I would be out of the House of Commons within 24 hours.

“We need a proper rethink. Yes, there are bad things said on both sides. But the role of mainstream media has a lot to do with this.”

Weeks ago, Aaronovitch joked Democrats would be best served having Trump killed.

In 2019, comedian Jo Brand joked about a milkshake being chucked at Nigel Farage – saying it should have been battery acid.

GB News has contacted the BBC for comment.

Trump was showing a chart of border crossing numbers when bangs started ringing out after 6.10pm local time.

The ex-president could be seen grimacing and reaching with his right hand towards the side of head, before blood appeared on his face.

He ducked and was surrounded by Secret Service agents, before rising to his feet and pumping his fist in the air, to cheers from the crowd.

The FBI named 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks, of Bethel Park, Pennsylvania, as the gunman.

A motive has not yet been identified, but authorities are treating the shooting as an assassination attempt.
