Taylor Fritz has revealed he ‘wished Alexander Zverev the best’ during their conversation at the net following his comeback victory over the No 4 seed to reach the semi-finals of Wimbledon.
Zverev was playing with a grey sleeve on his left knee after suffering a nasty fall during his previous match against Cam Norrie.
Speaking after the match against the former British No 1, Zverev said that he ‘overstretched’ his knee and was set to undergo an MRI to learn the extent of the injury.
But he showed no signs of the knee causing him issues early on against Fritz as he quickly raced to a two-set lead.

Fritz didn’t allow his head to drop though in a battle of the big servers having only given away one break of serve in the first two sets.
The American then stepped up a gear when it mattered most in the third set to get his first break of the match before serving out for the third.
The fourth went to another tiebreak with barely anything separating the two of them.
Fritz was able to force a deciding set with the momentum fully with him and Zverev appeared to drop his level.
The world No 4 looked to be struggling at stages with his knee beginning to cause him problems.
Fritz showed no mercy on the other side of the net as he got the break of serve midway through the set before serving out for the match.
The two shared a longer-than-usual embrace at the net after the match with Fritz explained on his on-court interview what was said.
“It’s all good,” Fritz said.
