England star Phil Foden is reportedly set to jet home from Euro 2024 for a second time if they beat Slovakia on Sunday.

The Manchester City star recently travelled back to Britain to be with partner Rebecca Cook as she gave birth to the couple’s third child, a baby boy.

Foden has returned to Germany and, though England have Cole Palmer and Anthony Gordon pushing to start, is expected to be named in Gareth Southgate’s side for the upcoming fixture against Slovakia.

Yet The Sun say the forward is poised to jet home again if England reach the quarter-finals with a win today.

Foden is ‘thought to be planning another brief visit home’ so he can spend time with Cooke and the rest of his family.

The report says the other wives and girlfriends of England players are confident their men will do the business at the AufSchalke Stadium in Gelsenkirchen.

They have apparently booked private jets to visit players at their base in Blankenhain.

A source is quoted as saying: “They are flying out to Germany for the match, but as it’s a knockout stage there’s obviously no guarantee England will still be in the Euros after the final whistle.

“But they are confident their men can do the business.

“The onward flight has already been booked to take them to the England camp.

“They are not expecting the team to lose today.

“It’s been a long haul already, with all the travelling, but they are hugely supportive and love spending what time they can with players.”

Players have been joined by their loved ones at their team camp after each Euro 2024 match so far.

The FA put on a family fun day after England’s 1-1 draw with Denmark, with bouncy castles and burger trucks there to be enjoyed.

And if England win against Slovakia, players will get to spend more time with their nearest and dearest.

Southgate, meanwhile, is adamant his Three Lions side will come good – despite their issues at the tournament so far.

England have scored just twice and, though they topped their group, their displays have left much to be desired.

But Southgate believes the mood in the camp is going and believes his team are ‘heading in the right direction’.

“Confidence is growing, the players know a lot of the performance against Slovenia was a step in the right direction,” he said.

“We have to find more incisiveness in the final third and creativity, but we have the players to do that.

“The understanding of playing together, sticking to the plan and making sure we show the right level of composure to sustain attacks in that area of the pitch, all of those things will add to the performance.

“Of course, goals have a huge impact on individuals and teams.

“But it doesn’t necessarily have to be one moment, you keep having to show evidence of what you’re doing well and building on what you’re doing.”

They won 2-1 that day, with Marcus Rashford and Eric Dier both on target.

And England will be hoping for a repeat as they look to take another step closer to ending 58 years of hurt.
