The Israeli forces also haphazardly bombed other noncombatants from the air, leaving the Nuseirat refugee camp in shambles and with many casualties.
Yedioth Ahronoth, an Israeli newspaper, claimed that the tragic June 8 IDF operation in Nuseirat was almost perfectly executed “in broad daylight.”
The report also sang praises for the Israeli troops’ “precise intelligence, meticulous planning and execution and quick and professional action” that guaranteed the success of the operation and the rescue of four hostages.
However, Euro-Med Human Rights Monitor (Euro-Med HRM), a Geneva-based independent, nonprofit organization dedicated to the protection of human rights, reported that several Palestinian civilians were executed in their homes and on the street as the bloody IDF operation began.
Rami Abdu, Chairman of the Euro-Med HRM, said that based on preliminary testimonies, Israeli troops used a ladder to enter the home of Dr. Ahmed Al-Jamal. They then promptly executed Fatima al-Jamal, 36, when they saw her on the staircase.
Next, the Israeli troops executed her husband, Abdullah al-Jamal, 36, and his father Ahmed, 74. The soldiers also shot Ahmed’s daughter Zainab, 27, who sustained serious injuries. Reports revealed that this was the house where Noa Argamani, 26, an Israeli conscript and captive, was being held. Abdu also said Israeli troops shot Muhammad Salhiya in the head while he was sitting on a chair and reading the Quran in his home in the refugee camp. He added that Euro-Med HRM had originally documented field executions and killings in at least seven homes during the operation in Nuseirat.
“In this world, the blood of a white westerner is equivalent to the lives of thousands of innocent non-westerners,” said Abdu. He also highlighted that Western and Israeli press focused on the fate of the four rescued Israeli captives rather than the dozens of innocent civilians killed.
The three other rescued captives, who were called “the diamonds” by the IDF, were Almog Meir Jan, 21, Argamani, Andrey Kozlov, 27, and Shlomi Ziv, 40.
While people cheered throughout Israel as the hostages were reunited with their loved ones, the families in Gaza mourned. According to reports from health officials, around 274 people were killed during the IDF raid, including dozens of children.
The recent attack has forced two populations to deal with the ongoing Israel-Palestine war, which has now reached its ninth month. According to health officials, the latest death toll has topped 37,000, with more than 100 hostages still being held in Gaza.
Palestinian witnesses say Israeli troops “indiscriminately bombed” the Nuseirat refugee camp
Euro-Med HRM has compiled a preliminary list of the identified Palestinian victims in the June 8 Nuseirat massacre, which was conducted by the IDF in under one hour.
At a press conference, Rear Adm. Daniel Hagari, an Israeli army spokesman, claimed that the operation began at 11 a.m. and “was a high-risk, complex mission based on precise intelligence conducted in daylight in two separate buildings deep inside Gaza.”
His comments led some to believe that Israeli forces only bombed the Nuseirat camp and killed hundreds of civilians to clear the way so the IDF and the hostages could escape.
According to Palestinian witnesses, Israeli forces bombed the Nuseirat refugee camp in several locations before they heard any fighting break out. Their reports suggest that the bombing was conducted to create chaos and prepare the way for the beginning of the rescue operation.
According to a woman from Nuseirat, the attack began sometime around 10:30 a.m. The refugee camp was bombed by different types of aircraft while “drones fired at anyone moving.”
Comparing the bombing to “the Day of Judgment,” the woman said she saw people around her “torn apart,” with their limbs “scattered everywhere.” She added that the IDF “truly annihilated” the people in the Nuseirat refugee camp.
The woman was also surprised as bullets rained down on her and the others at the refugee camp, with flames spreading around them. She also described how she gathered the remains of her dead son’s body, which was torn to shreds by the devastating attacks.
Meanwhile, a Palestinian man said Israeli special forces who were disguised as civilians infiltrated the Nuseirat refugee camp in a car and a large truck used for delivering humanitarian aid. He added that the Israeli forces riding the truck were “carrying clothes and cooking pans.”
When the driver in the car put a mask on, people gathered around. Next, the masked driver reversed the vehicle and drove it next to the truck.
People then started saying that the people in the car and the truck were Israeli special forces. The attack took place while civilians were standing in the street, and the man added that “nobody knew what was going on.”
In a statement, the United Nations said the IDF attack was “heinous,” adding that Israeli troops “entered Nuseirat disguised as displaced persons and aid workers in a humanitarian truck.”
“These tactics put aid workers and the delivery of much-needed humanitarian aid at even greater risk and expose an unprecedented level of savagery in Israeli military actions,” continued the statement.
