Hollywood actor Kevin Spacey became emotional and broke down during a recent interview after he admitted he became “handsy” and “caressed people” during the height of his fame.

The Usual Suspects actor was found not guilty in a 2022 New York lawsuit and was acquitted of sexual assault charges in a separate London trial in 2023.

Despite being found not guilty, Spacey is again set to stand trial in the UK again, likely in early 2025, over a lawsuit by another man claiming Spacey sexually assaulted him. Spacey has continued to deny all allegations.

Speaking out on the allegations for the first time, Spacey admitted that he did act inappropriately towards people in the past, and when asked about his “bad behaviour”, he recalled he was “pushing the boundaries”.

Stepping foot in a TV studio for the first time since 2017 when the allegations first emerged, the actor said: “There have been a couple of times where it has been very dark, and I was at my lowest. A few days after this all began, in 2017.”

When asked if any of his behaviour had been inappropriate to those in his company, Spacey said: “I admit to that. It is important for me to recognise that and important for me to hear and listen to someone else’s perspective.

“Why they didn’t feel they could say something to me at the time? It is very very important. It is always risky when you find yourself attracted to someone you are working with.

“Being too handsy, touching someone sexually in a way that I didn’t know at the time they didn’t want.”

Many see that “groping” people in a sexual way against their wishes is a crime, leaving the 64-year-old to add: “I agree that the word ‘grope’ is a very odd word.

“I personally, I have caressed people, I have been gentle with people, that is the way that I am. You’re making a pass at someone, you don’t want to be aggressive.

“You want to be gentle. You want to see if they’re going to respond positively. I think the word itself is not a word that I associate with my experience.”

When asked whether all his encounters were consensual, he responded: “They should let you know they don’t want to do it so you can understand that it is non-consensual and stop.

“[I’m] Making a vow that this will never happen again in my life. I will never behave in the ways I did previously ever.”

The Baby Driver actor was also asked how he had been since being found not guilty and told Piers Morgan: “I’m alright. It has been an interesting couple of weeks and to start to be able to talk about things for me in some cases.

“I have never talked about it before. And to take accountability for places where I have behaved badly, and to hopefully put some facts out there that maybe the public don’t know about.”

During the rest of the interview, Spacey broke down and revealed he had been forced to sell his home and was left on the brink of bankruptcy. Having previously split his time between the UK and America, revealing his home in Baltimore is currently being auctioned.
