Birds of a Feather star Lesley Joseph has updated fans of the classic sitcom about the potential for a reboot.
The comedy show ran throughout the 1990s on the BBC but has returned to screens infrequently in the years since.
After a long hiatus, the comedy made a comeback in 2014 for a number of series, much to the delight of long-term viewers, while the latest instalment came in the form of a 2020 Christmas Special.
However, one of the leading ladies Joseph, who starred as Dorien Green, has quashed rumours of comeback.
“I don’t think [I’ll return], no,” she told The Mirror, before adding: “At my age, I don’t know how much longer I have in this business.
“I’m fit as a flea but there are a few other things I’d like to do before I retire.”

Joseph, 78, starred alongside co-stars Linda Robson, who starred as Tracey Stubbs and Pauline Quirke, who portrayed Sharon Theodopolopodous.
She delved further into reasons she wouldn’t be keen for a reboot, telling the publication: “The older I get, the more frightened I become of forgetting my lines and making a fool of myself in front of an audience.
“I think I’ll know when the time is right for me to retire, but it’s not today.”
Loose Women star Robson, 66, has remained in the public eye in the years after the programme’s success, but Quirke, 64, has stepped down from the limelight and didn’t feature in the latest special four years ago.

When asked recently about the possibility of another onscreen reunion of the trio, she explained: “No, Pauline doesn’t act anymore.”
Speaking to Women’s Own, she continued: “Yeah. We have so much history together, me and Pauline have been best friends since we were 10 years old.
“Lesley I’ve known since the first series of Birds of a Feather. Pauline doesn’t like all the social events but me and Lesley love that.
“Pauline hates live TV as well, she’ll only ever come on Loose Women if I am on there because she feels safe then.”

In the past, Robson has been upfront about her disappointment in her co-star’s change of heart, previously stating: “I’m not going to lie and say Lesley and I weren’t disappointed.”
However, she also shut down rumours of feud between herself and her co-star, describing speculation of a clash between the pair as “bulls***”.
