Pro-dancer Giovanni Pernice has been told to apolgise by BBC bosses after accusations of serious workplace misconduct.

Pernice, 33, was forced to apologise to Amanda Abbington after several crisis meetings resulted in the broadcaster’s bigwigs calling for recorded rehearsals.

Following a series of complaints from previous dance partners, the BBC was forced to launch an internal investigation last month.

The BBC is being represented by lawyers from Carter Ruck.

A source told The Sun: “The female executives realised there was a serious problem with Giovanni’s teaching style so installed cameras and a crew member to take notes on a log after about two weeks of them starting training.

“When the women reviewed the footage they were shocked by what they saw and asked Giovanni to apologise for his behaviour.”

The BBC has steered clear of commenting on the matter but asked for outlets to refrain from naming producers.

Pernice was last week accused of sending an offensive video clip to a celebrity dance partner, The Sun on Sunday revealed.

The Italian dancer was alleged to have sent the clip ahead of filming one of the live Saturday night shows.

However, the 33-year-old did not make, commission or appear in the video.

The BBC issued a statement about its investigation into Pernice – without naming him or the show.

The dancer, who denies all allegations, faces a string of allegations over his training regime.

The BBC said: “We have seen a number of media reports about a high-profile show.

“We would urge people not to indulge in speculation. Anyone involved in a complaint has a right to confidentiality.”
