Reuben Owen has become a TV favourite after staring in Our Yorkshire Farm alongside his family and, more recently, his solo series Life in the Dales.
The 20-year-old farmer is no stranger to difficult work, but recently reflected on how “hard” it had been on Ravenseat Farm following his parents’ split in 2022.
Amanda and Clive Owen, 49 and 69, became household names when they shared a glimpse at their unique life on the isolated farm they ran with their nine children.
Our Yorkshire Farm aired on Channel 5 from 2018 until the couple decided to split in 2022.
While both have made different TV appearances since, it’s their second child Reuben who has carried on chronicling the realities of farming life with his new series.
Away from his series, Owen has opened up about the impact of his parents’ split, reflecting on the “hard work”.

Talking about the very public divorce of his parents, the young farmer commented: “It doesn’t really make a difference. They are just there as they always have been.”
He told the Daily Express: “Mum and dad just keep us right. They always have and they still do, they’re the same as they were and they are up there farming right now.
“When I left them today mum had something going on to do with a cow. Mum and dad were both stood there absolutely soaking wet in the yard. Not much has changed at all really.”
However, he went on to confess how his machinery business made him realise how hard his mother has had to work at Ravenseat.

“I’ve realised how hard it must be for her to do it all,” he admitted.
“On the scale of what I do compared to what she does she works very hard. I don’t know how she has enough hours in the day to do it all.”
Owen’s farming series also features his ex-girlfriend Sarah Dow, but sadly he recently confirmed their own split.
“Me and Sarah were together, we’re no longer together but we’re still very good friends,” he explained during an interview.

Speaking to Lorraine Kelly on ITV, he continued: “She’s kind of gone her own way and is pursuing her own career.
“She does the odd day for us when she’s not busy, but no we’re not together. We get on very well and we’re still good pals.”
The news came as shock to fans of the series and many expressed their sadness at the news.
