Mike Tyson has followed in the footsteps of Barack Obama by posing with a West Coast Eagles jersey as his fight with Jake Paul approaches.

The 57-year-old is coming out of retirement on July 20 to fight Paul, despite a massive 30-year age gap between the two men.

Tyson appeared at a press conference earlier in the week, condemning critics who have slammed his decision to fight a man over half his age.

And he’s now spent some time with former Eagles ruckman Nic Naitanui.

Natanui took to X to share an image of Tyson holding up an Eagles jersey.

He accompanied his post with the caption: “Iron @MikeTyson got his wings today ahead of his fight with @jakepaul.”

Fans have since responded to the upload, with one user saying: “Crossover I never knew I needed.”

A second stated: “Go Mike, go Eagles.”

And a third said: “No S**T that’s AWESOME!!”

Former US president Obama previously held up an Eagles jersey back in 2017 after leaving office.

A Facebook post from the AFL side at the time said: “Happy retirement, Barack Obama.

“Hopefully this means you catch a few more Eagles games!”

The post of Tyson holding his shirt comes just days after the boxing legend appeared at a press conference along with Paul.

Fans are worried for the former heavyweight star, with some fearing he could suffer a serious injury due to his age.

Yet Tyson insists people questioning his decision were wrong, while also insisting he wants to ‘shut down the sporting world down.’

“The people who said that [I am too old to fight] wish that they were up here. No one else can do this,” he said.

“Who else can do this? Who else can shut the sporting world down? No one else can do it.

“You got the both of us, so we’re going to do this. We’re friends. There’s no doubt we’re friends.

“But in the ring, we’re not going to be friends. That’s just what it is.”

Yet Deontay Wilder, speaking to Sportsbook Review, has expressed fears Tyson could end up in a coma.

“I think it’s bad the commission has licensed Mike Tyson because he hasn’t been active in 20 years, so they should not just licence him because of who he is, that’s how people get hurt, god forbid he gets hurt,” he said.

“People can get hit in the wrong place and at the wrong time, there’s lots of examples where guys have been hit into a coma.

“It’s easy to do. He’s too old for this.

“At the end of the day, no one gives a f**k about Mike.

“We can talk about the pros and cons, but at the end of the day, they don’t give a f**k.

“I don’t think anyone cares about Mike because if they did they wouldn’t sanction the fight.

“They may say they’ve done tests and all that, ok, but as long as you’re willing to suffer the consequences if something bad goes wrong.

“His power may not have left completely but you still need to set it up, your stamina needs to be a certain way, or it’s going to look like a clown show.”
