Red Bull’s chief designer Adrian Newey communicating his intention to quit is a sure sign he “doesn’t look favourably” on the Christian Horner scandal that has engulfed the team, according to sports reporter Paul Coyte.

Speaking on GB News, Coyte told Stephen Dixon and Ellie Costello that the designer is highly regarded and will not be short of suitors.

While he has yet to officially hand in his resignation, it is report he has communicated his desire to leave.

Ferrari will undoubtedly hold an interest in the designer in a move that could unite him with seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton.

Hamilton will quit Mercedes at the end of the season to join the Maranello-based team.

Coyte warns that if Newey were to join him, a contract saga may ensue with Red Bull keen not to lose one of their main assets to a direct rival.
