Britons are set to bask in temperatures of up to 20C today as an African plume blasts the UK with “unseasonably warm” weather.
The latest forecast suggests a rush of “spring heat” will see temperatures reaching 19 to 20C in southern areas of the UK.
Friday is set to “feel warm for much of England, eastern Wales and northeastern Scotland” with light winds and temperatures in the mid to high teens.
The warm temperatures are expected to continue into the weekend with highs of 19C on Saturday.

NetWeather forecasters say cool air will push through overnight but Saturday is expected to remain warm for parts of England – especially when the sunshine appears.
Across Britain, it will feel fresher on Sunday as the colder air follows the frontal bands of Saturday night.
Weather maps show that Sunday will see a “fresher airmass” with conditions “generally bright, breezy and cooler”.
Senior Meteorologist at AccuWeather, Jason Nicholls told GB News: “The current mild pattern across the UK will persist through the weekend.

“A cooler pattern is expected next week. It can be unsettled early next week with spells of light rain and maybe wintry spells in the northern hills. A dry pattern should prevail late next week into next weekend.
“The cool pattern should carry into the week of 22 April but temperatures can moderate back to more seasonal level late in the week. Milder weather can return to close April and the month of May overall looks to be milder than usual.
“There will be a few frontal passages and weak lows impacting the UK over the next few weeks but I am not seeing any big storms like Kathleen during the period.”
The Met Office also predicts warm – damp and muggy – weather in the coming days.

A spokesperson said: “Rather cloudy with patchy rain in the north, though brighter across the far northeast of Scotland. England and Wales mostly dry with warm sunshine, but cloudier in the far west.
“Warm sunshine in the south and southeast on Saturday. Showery and turning cooler further northwest.
“Generally bright, breezy and cooler on Sunday. Showers in the northwest. Blustery showers on Monday.”
