Fern Britton has spoken out on the future of her love life and admitted that whilst she isn’t looking for anything from anyone, she would like a “bit of romance”.
The star’s revelation comes just days after her ex-husband Phil Vickery posted a cryptic message on his Instagram story about “messing things up”.
Britton and Vickery met on BBC Two’s Ready Steady Cook and share one child together, daughter Winnie, 22.
A large portion of their marriage saw Britton as a presenter on This Morning where many of her fans supported their relationship.
However, in 2020, Britton posted a statement on her X account – then known as Twitter – to reveal she and Vickery had parted ways.
She wrote: “After more than 20 happy years together, Phil and I have decided to go our separate ways. We will always share a great friendship and our lovely children.

“We would appreciate it if our privacy is respected at this time. Thank you for your continued kindness and support.”
Four years on, Britton has admitted that she is finally ready to be romanced again but remains adamant that she is not “looking for anything.”
She said: “People say to me: ‘Are you dating? Are you doing this, are you doing that.’ The answer is no. I’m not dating at all.
“I’m not looking for anything, but – although I’d never want to get married again, or live with anyone again – I’d like just a bit of romance.

“A little bit of going out to supper or maybe having a bit of a holiday. Someone to talk to at the end of the day to run things past. That would be nice.
“I don’t need it. But it would be nice,” she told Christine Lampard on ITV’s Lorraine.
Her revelation comes after Vickery posted on his Instagram story: “A lot of people mess up something good by looking for something better, to end up with something worse,” which was quickly deleted.
During her Big Brother stint, Britton was adamant that she did not want to find love again and told Louis Walsh: “I’m ready to slow down, like you, I’ve been working solidly since I was 20.”

Walsh agreed and added: “You realise what life is, and realise why haven’t I done this before, why didn’t I go there, why didn’t I do that?
“Fern, if you pick the right person you’ll have great fun, you might fall in love,” but she quickly quipped back: “I don’t want to fall in love again.”
