Beyond Paradise fans were left disappointed with the new series of the BBC drama and threatened to boycott the upcoming episodes.

Kicking off the first storyline, DCI Humphrey Goodman (played by Kris Marshall) and Esther Williams (Zara Ahmadi) signed up for a murder mystery night.

However, things soon took a turn for the Shipton Abbott residents when a player was murdered for real during the game.

The victim was found with a knife in his back and it soon turned into their first investigation back, with all the twists and turns of a true crime drama.

As the case became more perplexing, it became clear they had unravelled a dark past that hid connections between the actors.

They soon revealed that the victim was murdered twice, as the husband and wife hosting the evening separately poisoned and stabbed the victim.

Away from the case, Humphrey and Martha Lloyd (Sally Bretton) decided to embark on the process of becoming foster parents – all whilst encouraging Anne to catapult herself into the world of online dating.

Despite many fans being enthralled to see the series back on their screens, some were left disappointed with the series and claimed they wouldn’t carry on.

One X user noted: “I do enjoy #BeyondParadise but it’s not as good as #DeathinParadise.”

“Oh it’s a #DeathInParadise style Episode #BeyondParadise… great,” another added before a third claimed: “This is supposed to be lighthearted entertainment.

“I was really looking forward to this series but now I’m so disappointed. I know it’s a #DIP spin-off but it’s too much like #DIP… not sure if I liked it.”

Not all viewers were left disappointed with the show though, as one praised: “Oh I am so glad to have this back on my screen! Welcome back Humphrey!”
