Jetting off somewhere far, far away is always fun. However, there is so much to see and do in the UK.

As the weather gets warmer and the days get longer, Britons may want to take advantage of the beauty that is right on their doorstep. For example, the UK is home to some absolutely breathtaking walks.

The experts at Cotswold Outdoors – who specialise in all things outdoorsy, from walking to cycling to camping – shared their “favourite” springtime strolls.

According to the experts, The Daffodil Way, Gloucestershire, is totally mesmerising in late February and all of March.

They said: “If you take a walk in the pastures, woodlands and orchards around Dymock and Kempley in the Windcross parishes of North-West Gloucestershire, you’ll find yourself in a spectacular sea of colour known as the Golden Triangle.

“This peaceful corner of the Welsh borders is wild daffodil country, and the Daffodil Way is a glorious 10-mile walking route that threads its way right through it along the Vale of Leadon. There really is no better place to be experience spring colour.”

Walking enthusiasts can do the whole 10 miles but Daffodil Way can still be enjoyed in sections for those who are looking for an easier stroll.

Britons who don’t have time to head to Daffodil Way this month need not fear, as according to the experts at Walking Pages, April is another great month to complete this springtime walk.

  • Clun, Shropshire
  • Roseberry Topping, North Yorkshire
  • Three Cliffs Bay, Gower
  • Minsmere, Suffolk
  • Seven Sisters, South Downs
  • Alnwick Garden, Northumberland
  • The Speyside Way, Scotland

They said: “There is really only one time in the year to get the most from this walk and that is March and early April when the daffodils are in bloom.”

Walking enthusiasts can start at Dymock and make their way to the Golden Triangle. From here, pass underneath the M50 motorway using the old railway track bed and reach Betty Daw’s Wood, a Gloucestershire Wildlife Trust nature reserve. Then, re-join the route along a lane that crosses the M50 motorway and passes through Dymock Wood to Kempley Green.

Next, you will cross fields to Fishpool and follow a lane to Kempley Brook. Use the path on the right for a “delightful waterside walk”.

Finally, take the path heading east through Allums Gorove wood, go past Allum’s Farm, and head back to Dymock.

For Britons who are also keen to see the prettiest beaches the UK has to offer, the best beach for spring 2024 has been named.

The “must-visit” spot is “breathtaking”, and you’ll likely avoid the rain while you’re there too.
