Emily Maitlis has found herself on the receiving end of a rather blunt putdown from Donald Trump supporter and Republican Marjorie Taylor Greene after the former BBC presenter grilled her on conspiracy theories.
Greene told Maitlis to “f*** off” after the latter put her on the spot about “Jewish space lasers”, referring to a conspiracy claim in which Greene suggested Californian wildfires were orchestrated by the Jewish Rothschild family.
Gathered at Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate, Maitlis was able to grab time with Greene following the former President’s landslide victory over fellow Republican rival Nikki Haley.
Trump is poised for a Presidential showdown with Democrat rep Biden after being narrowly deprived of a clean sweep of wins across Republican states on Super Tuesday – Haley only bagged Vermont,
Kicking off their interview, Maitlis asked Greene what message she had for Haley, to which she replied: “Well, we’ve been encouraging her to drop out and support President Trump.
“I think tonight is the clear message that President Trump is the clear frontrunner, he’s the winner in our Republican primary and it’s time for Nikki Haley to drop out and support him.”

“Do you think Mr Trump is closer to picking his VP and should you be on that list?” Maitlis asked but Greene avoided mentioning herself.
She replied: “That’s the question everyone asks and no, I don’t think Nikki Haley should be on that list. But of course, President Trump will choose who he wants for VP.”
Maitlis repeated her probe but Greene was unwavering: “He’s got a long list. I support President Trump in any way he’d ask me. But I can assure you, it won’t be Nikki Haley.”
The tone of the interview soon took a drastic shift as Maitlis then quizzed: “And can you tell me why so many people that support Donald Trump love conspiracy theories, including yourself? He seems to attract lots of conspiracy theorists…”

Greene bit back: “Well, let me tell you: you’re a conspiracy theorist and the left and the media spreads more conspiracy theories. We like the truth, we like supporting our constitution, our freedoms and America first.”
“What about Jewish space lasers?” Maitlis asked as Greene attempted to walk away, prompting her to reply: “Why don’t you go talk about Jewish space lasers and really why don’t you f*** off, how about that?”
“Thanks, thank you very much. Thank you,” Maitlis said to the News Agents cameras as Greene moved on.
Greene herself has never used the words “Jewish space lasers” but the term was coined by critics after she’d posted her conspiracy claims about the Rothschilds and gas company PG&E Corporation’s supposed involvement in Californian wildfires back in 2018.

She appeared on UK TV last year where she refused to clarify her comments in an interview with Piers Morgan but she did claim her words had been “twisted” and she denied being anti-Semitic.
The interview with Maitlis was met with a mixed reception from pro-Trump and pro-Biden supporters on social media.
“When it comes to Emily Maitlis, this is an understandable response tbf,” one person said in support of Greene while a second echoed: “This is how to deal with stupid lefty media questions. #Maitlis.”
However, others threw their support behind Maitlis, including one X user who replied to the interview: “Marjorie Taylor-Greene telling you to f*** off is really a badge of honour. Great work @maitlis.” (sic)
