Many Britons like to jet abroad for their holidays but the UK offers some stunning staycation spots too.

For those who fancy a holiday at home as the weather starts to warm up, the Cotswolds may just be the perfect destination.


The Cotswolds is an idyllic region boasting some beautiful sights, and is a great staycation hotspot, particularly if you enjoy a picturesque stroll.

Responsible Travel comprised a list of the 12 best places to go walking in England, and the Cotswolds took the top spot. Covering 787 square miles, Britons can take their pick from so many areas of natural beauty.

The travel experts added: “Well known for its slow food ethos, you won’t be short of fine inns and food as you wander through village and vale.”

Centuries of farming in the region has resulted in some gorgeous foods. Try the local vegetables – especially asparagus – beef, lamb, cheese and ice cream.

Some major attractions in the Cotswolds include Cotswold Wildlife Park and Gardens, Gloucester Cathedral and Cotswold Motoring Museum.

For those considering a picturesque walk in Scotland, Glenfinnan Viaduct Trail may be the best of the bunch.

Visitors can see the railway bridge from the Harry Potter films, Loch Shiel and the Glenfinnan Monument.
