Cinemagoers have spoken out in their droves in shock at the full list of nominations for this year’s Bafta Awards.
Fresh off the back of last week’s Emmys and Critic Choice Awards as well as the Golden Globes earlier this month, anticipation was high to see who’d landed the chance to win again.
There were a number of expected hauls for some of the year’s biggest blockbusters, including a near record-breaking haul of 13 noms for Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer.
Black comedy Poor Things, created by Greek filmmaker Yorgos Lanthimos, also impressed by bagging 11 nods across the board.
Martin Scorcese’s Killers of the Flower Moon bagged nine as did The Zone of Interest while the likes of Anatomy of A Fall, The Holdovers, and Maestro all landed seven noms.
Paul Mescal and Andrew Scott drama All of Us Strangers earned six noms while the much talked-about Saltburn and the Greta Gerwig-directed Barbie were nominated in five categories apiece.

Fans will have to wait until February 18 to see who’ll bag each award when the ceremony commences with host David Tennant at the Southbank Centre’s Royal Festival Hall in London.
But there are a few big names who don’t stand a chance of winning after being snubbed in their respective categories.
Arguably the most notable of snubs came for Scorcese’s Killer of the Flower Moon with the director and its leading star Lily Gladstone both missing out on nods in their respective categories.
Killers of the Flower Moon and Gladstone fans were outraged by the rejection, including one X, formerly Twitter, user who raged: “Lily Gladstone and Andrew Scott SNUBBED? insane #BAFTAs.”

“#baftas WTF?!? Robert De Niro but no Lily Gladstone? Paul Mescal but no Andrew Scott? You missed the bullseye twice,” a second fumed while a third weighed in: “This is f**king insane! No Lily Gladstone? I guess Emma Stone has a bigger chance to win the #Oscars now?! #BAFTAs.”
“Lily Gladstone not being nominated for a BAFTA?! Ridiculous. #bafta,” added a fourth before a fifth fumed: “How the f*** did they not nominate Lily Gladstone?! Criminal. #BAFTA.”
And a sixth commented: “#BAFTA I am so heartbroken for Lily that snub is utterly ridiculous there was no reason she should’ve missed, can’t even be surprised tho because BAFTA loves awarding white women in this category, Fantasia and Vivian were jury picks w no chance of winning.”
In the Leading Actress category, Gladstone missed out as the full list consists of:
- Fantasia Barrino for The Color Purple
- Sandra Huller for Anatomy of a Fall
- Carey Mulligan for Maestro
- Vivian Oprah for Rye Lane
- Margot Robbie for Barbie
- Emma Stone for Poor Things

Meanwhile, Scorcese missed out on the Best Director category as BAFTA unveiled the nominees as:
- Andrew Haigh for All of Us Strangers
- Justine Triet for Anatomy of a Fall
- Alexander Payne for The Holdovers
- Bradley Cooper for Maestro
- Christopher Nolan for Oppenheimer
- Jonathan Glazer for The Zone of Interest
Avoiding mention of the snubs, Jane Millichip, CEO of Bafta, focussed on the wide range of films up for awards this year.
She said: “The 38 films nominated by Bafta voters today span an extraordinary range of genres and stories. The field this year is incredibly strong. More films were entered, making the selection process particularly tough for our voting members.
“The films and talented people nominated represent some of the most talked about films of the year, the most critically acclaimed, and films yet to be released and discovered by audiences.
“With a month to go until the EE Baftas on February 18, we encourage film fans everywhere to watch as many nominated films as possible and find out more about the people who make them by listening to our new official podcast, Countdown to the Bafta, which is available widely on podcast platforms from today.”
