Tyson Fury has stuck the knife into Deontay Wilder by celebrating Joseph Parker’s win over the American on Saturday night.

Wilder had gone into that battle as the favourite to reign supreme.

Yet the 38-year-old looked a shadow of the fighter he used to be as Parker won via unanimous decision.

Fury had given Parker advice prior to the bout, having fought Wilder three times in the past – winning twice and drawing the other.

And the Gypsy King has stuck the knife into Wilder by taking to Instagram to share a picture of Parker celebrating his triumph.

After the fight, Parker shed light on how Fury had helped him prepare.

“Tyson Fury gave us his time with sparring and was massively important,” he said.

“A lot of respect to Wilder, a dangerous and tough fight but we trained very hard for this.

“Everyone had other plans, but this was God’s plan. The strategy was to stay calm and relaxed, switched on for every second.”

With Wilder losing, a fight between the Bronze Bomber and Anthony Joshua now looks tricky.

Joshua won his own fight against Otto Wallin, needing just five rounds to come out on top.

And when quizzed on Wilder’s defeat, AJ admitted fans were likely to be ‘annoyed’ by the result because of what it means for their own potential scrap.

“I’m sure from a fan perspective, they’ll be more annoyed. For me, I always understand how this game is,” stated the Briton.

“You never know. This is elite level boxing.”

While Parker came out on top, he did admit he was exhausted by his victory over Wilder.

“Deontay Wilder is a great fighter,” said the 31-year-old.

“He proved why he is one of the top competitors in the heavyweight division tonight.

“My body is sore, but that’s part of the job.

And he vowed to be even better next time out, adding: “Every match is an opportunity to learn and grow. I’ll come back stronger next time.”

Wilder, meanwhile, reacted to his defeat on social media by saying: “We came up short tonight.

“I don’t know what happened to be honest. My timing was off and I didn’t let my hands go like I was supposed to.

“Sometimes it gets like that but you live to see another fight. You live to see another moment, that’s all that matters.

“I’m still full of happiness, I’m still full of joy, still full of smiles.

“Sorry if I let anyone down. But we’ll be back though, that’s the good thing about it.”
